Demographic factors affecting the usage of information and communication technology sources for seeking digital health literacy

Abstract
Objective: To determine the demographic factors affecting the usage of information and communication technology (ICT) sources for seeking digital health literacy (DHL) among educated youth of Lahore, Pakistan.
Methodology: This descriptive cross sectional study was carried out from September 2016 to April 2017 through a survey and included 1513 university students from 17 public and private sector universities of Lahore. For data analysis, SPSS version 21 was used to analyze the data.
Results: Age (χ2=15.247, p=0.002), education (χ2=11.003, p=0.004) and type of institution (χ2=11.517, p=0.009) were significant predictors for usage of ICT sources to acquire DHL.
Conclusion: Age, gender, education level and type of institution were demographic predictors that fluctuate the level of DHL among educated youth. Usage of graphical and pictorial presentations along with interactional websites become the major remedies to ensure the usage of ICT sources to become digitally literate.
