Level of maternal satisfaction with antenatal care and its associated factors in Karachi, Pakistan.

Abstract
Objective: To determine the level of maternal satisfaction (MS) with Antenatal care (ANC) and its related factors in Karachi, Pakistan.
Methodology: This cross-sectional survey was conducted at two public sectors hospitals in Karachi, Pakistan from May to July 2021. A purposive sampling technique was used to enroll 230 mothers. Mothers, who had given birth to their children in the last two years and belonged to the age group of between 15-35 years were part of the study. Mothers who were not using ANC were left out of the study. Data were collected through a modified questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS 20.
Results: Out of 230 mothers, 126 (55%) were satisfied and 104 (45%) were dissatisfied with ANC. MS involved the behavior of health care providers (HcPs) in 20 (15.9%) women, appointment time and place in 23 (18.2%), and easy access in 28 (22.2%). Maternal dissatisfaction was due to available facilities in 20 (19.2%) women, holistic care approach in 19 (18.3%), and spared quality of time in 18(17.3%). Factors, such as HcPs and waiting time at ANC, age, educational status, and the number of kids were significantly associated with level of MS to ANC (p<0.05).
Conclusion: A majority of mothers was satisfied with ANC. Factors like behavior of HcPs, appointment time, place at ANC clinic, age, educational status, and number of kids were significantly associated with level of MS to ANC.
