Abstract
Objective: To determine the relationship among body image, depression, and sexual relationship satisfaction among married women with mastectomy.
Methodology: This quantitative correlational study collected 150 married women using the purposive sampling technique from government and private hospitals in Lahore. All had a mastectomy. Standardized questionnaires were used including Body Image scale, DASS scale, and Index of Sexual Satisfaction scale.
Results: Body image had a significantly negative correlation with sexual satisfaction and significantly positive correlation with depression symptoms. Sexual satisfaction was significantly negatively correlated with depression symptoms. The linear regression analysis had an 18% variance that shows body image symptoms significantly negative effect on depression. The independent sample t-test shows a significant mean difference between Stage-I and Stage II mastectomy.
Conclusion: Married women after mastectomy had body image symptoms with low sexual satisfaction and depression symptoms. Sexual satisfaction predicts depression symptoms among women after mastectomy.
