Perception of major stakeholders (teachers) regarding the modular system of medical education

Abstract
Objective: To assess the perception of major stakeholders (teachers) regarding the modular system of medical education.
Methodology: This prospective descriptive questionnaire-based study was carried out from 1st October 2022 to 31st March 2023. It was a multicentric study, respondents were selected on a volunteer basis from various departments by using a simple convenient sampling technique. Data analysis was done using MS Excel sheets.
Results: Out of 56 teachers, 65% were females, 57% belonged to basic medical sciences and 37% were young teachers. Enough student participation (63%), minimal hindrance to module teaching (57%), need for interdepartmental cooperation (86%), right division of time for individual topics (84%), and better communication skills were vital to the modular system (89%).
Conclusion: Enough student participation, minimal hindrance to module teaching, need for interdepartmental cooperation, right division of time for individual topics and better communication skills were vital to the modular system. The important step in the implementation is acquiring relevant human resources and capacity building by training them.
