Assess the awareness of governmental health insurance programs among the general public

Abstract
Objective: To assess the awareness of governmental health insurance programs among the public.
Methodology: It was a descriptive prospective questionnaire-based study, conducted from 1st June 2022 to 31st December 2022. Individuals from waiting areas of metro bus stations were recruited in the study. Data was entered on Google Sheets and MS Excel was used to produce tabular and graphical presentations of data.
Results: Our study showed the following demographic data; 46% young people, 62% having residence in urban areas, 78% males, less than 2% transgender, 84% lack personal or family house. The awareness level showed the following: 78% heard about Sehat Sahulat Program (SSP), 61% had social media as a source of information, 88% had misconceptions regarding eligibility criteria, 72% hadn't used SSP, more than 50% not had an idea about treatment expenses coverage and 48% considered form B to register newborn.
Conclusion: Respondents predominantly consisted of middle-aged males belonging to upper-middle-class socioeconomic groups. The overwhelming majority (89%) had heard of this initiative however, only 23% were aware of its method of utilization and benefits.
