Abstract
Objective: To assess the comprehensive overview of alcohol mediated renal denervation (RDN) for resistant hypertension, including its mechanism of action and recent evidence on its efficacy and safety.
Methodology: PubMed/MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, and Cochrane Library were searched comprehensively for studies evaluating alcohol mediated RDN for resistant hypertension. The included studies were assessed for the quality of study methods and reported data.
Results: Data were collected and synthesized narratively, summarizing various research findings of alcohol mediated RDN.
Conclusion: Alcohol-mediated RDN significantly lowers 24-h ambulatory and office systolic and diastolic blood pressure at 3- and 6-month follow-up. Moreover, its effects persisted up to 24 months post-procedure. Additionally, alcohol mediated RDN using the Peregrine catheter is safe and well-tolerated with minimal adverse events.

Key words: Renal denervation, renal sympathetic denervation, resistant hypertension, alcohol-mediated.
