Abstract
Objective: To compare the association between thromboembolic events and cardiovascular risk with ABO Blood Groups.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study included a total of 349 participants. All were aged 35-55 years were selected for the cardio risk program that generated a score, known as the cardiac risk score, calculated as Total cholesterol/HDL. The ratio greater than 4.5 was considered a high risk for CHD. Non-O Blood group (A and B) was collected to determine the variables like serum cholesterol, LDL, triglyceride, and HDL levels, which are the prognostic tools for the risk of cardiovascular disease. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS version 23. One-way ANOVA and Chi-square test were applied, and p<0.05 was considered statistically significant.
Results: Cholesterol was observed to be significant with p<0.0001 and a mean value of 189.08±9.11 in blood group A-. Triglycerides were significant with p<0.0001, and the highest mean value of 206.77±12.15 was observed in A- blood group. HDL had the highest mean value of 90.63±58.76 in AB+ blood group with p<0.0001. LDL had the highest mean value of 132.71±33.60 in AB+ blood group with p<0.0001.
Conclusion: The results of this study underline both; key role of ABO blood group for the risk of developing arterial thrombotic events and the need for including such an unmodifiable variable in the scores assessing the thrombotic risk.

Key words: ABO blood group, cardiac risk score, CVDs and thrombo-embolic events.
