Prevalence of patellofemoral pain disorder or anterior knee pain in both genders ages between 18-35.

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate prevalence of patellofemoral pain disorder or anterior knee pain (AKP) in both genders ages between18-35.
Methodology: The subjects were taken from different hospitals of Lahore, Pakistan. All were requested to fill the Anterior Knee Pain Questionnaire (AKPQ).
Results: Out of 400 subjects, 205(51.3%) were male and 195(48.8%) female. The mean age was 24.64±5.346, mean height 5.4446±0.37948ft and mean weight was 59.46±8.931kg. The mean score on AKPQ was 92.82±12.382. Out of 400, 76 (19.0%) scored less than 83, this considered positive for Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome or AKP. 34(16.58%) out of 205 males scored less than 83 and 42(21.53%), females out of 195 scored less than 83. 116(56.58%) out of 205 males scored 100 and considered normal, 102(52.30%) out of 195 females have scored 100. 54(26.34%) out of 205 scored greater than 83, 52(26.66%) out of 195 females scored greater than 83.
Conclusion: Anterior knee pain or Patellofemoral pain syndrome was present among young individuals of age between 18 and 35 years. AKP affects the activities of daily living. Most subjects with positive score had difficulty in knee flexion and had pain that disturbed their overall performance. Patellofemoral pain disorder is more prevalent in females than males.
