Abstract
Objective: To analyze the psychological and social aspects of quality of life of cleft lip and/or palate patients in the context of gender and different age groups.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study using non-probability purposive sampling recruited 80 cases with orofacial clefts from Mayo Hospital and Clapp Hospital, Lahore from September 2020 to January 2021. The sample included both genders, 6-19 years age. CLEFT-Q was used for the data collection. SPSS version 23 was used for data analysis. An independent sample t-test was used to see any significant difference between groups
Results: Both children and adolescents exhibited a poor quality of life. As regards psychological, social, and total psychosocial mean scores of the CLEFT-Q tool, there was no statistically significant difference between the QoL with p=0.916, p=0.594, and p=0.843, respectively. Also, there was no statistically significant difference between the QoL of male and females with p=0.815, p=0.396, p=0.783 for psychological, social, and total psychosocial mean scores, respectively.
