Health Belief Model Efficacy on improving hypertension control among old age at Kirkuk City, Iraq: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Abstract
Objective: To identify the efficacy of Health Belief Model on improving hypertension control behaviors among old age.
Materials: This experimental randomized controlled trial was conducted at primary health care in Kirkuk City, Iraq from July 17, to October 20, 2022 and included 100 elderly with high blood pressure were selected from the Kirkuk sector and the Daquq sector of the Kirkuk Health Department.
The instrument consisted of two parts: Part I: Socio demographic consisting of 12 items and Part II: primary subscales: This consisted of six primary subscales of 51 items and Part III: secondary subscales consisting of 16 items. The data were collected by interview technique and SPSS version 24 was used for the statistical analysis.

Results: All composed of health belief model who delivered perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefit, due to action and self-efficacy had an moderate evaluation (33.3-66.7), except for perceived barriers which was rated low (0.00-33.3).
Conclusions: Mean score of practice behavior increased after the educational in the intervention group.
