Knowledge of medical students for battling Monkey Pox in Karachi: A cross-sectional study

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the knowledge and awareness of Monkeypox among medical students in Karachi, Pakistan.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study included 815 participants, who were assessed for their knowledge using a 16-item scale. Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests were used to determine associations, and binary logistic regression was used to calculate odds ratios.
Results: Analysis revealed that a mere 49.2% of participants possessed sufficient knowledge. Gender emerged as the sole variable significantly associated with better knowledge, while other factors showed no notable correlations.
Conclusion: The findings highlight the need to enhance medical students' awareness of Monkeypox, empowering them to engage in public awareness and global health initiatives, and mitigating emerging infectious diseases.
