Prevalence of musculoskeletal pain among young females using different heel heights: a cross-sectional study

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the prevalence of musculoskeletal pain among females using different heel size footwear.
Methodology: We recruited 87 young females aged between 18-32 years. They were asked to walk on the treadmill at 4km/hour speed for 20 minutes with three different heel size shoes per day. The prevalence of pain was observed in feet and lower limbs.
Results: The prevalence of pain in foot and lower limb was 29.6% and 24.7%, respectively. In flat sandals, the pain in foot and lower limb was 39.5% and 19.8%, respectively. Back was affected from both high heels and flat sandals with 9.9% and 6.2%, respectively.
Conclusion: The pain in foot and lower limb was seen in both high heel users as well as flat sandals.
