Abstract
Objective: To explore the challenges to access and utilization of modern contraceptives among young women.
Methodology: This cross-sectional study included females (18-30 years). The participants were grouped based on age (<25 vs. ≥25 years) and contraceptive use (ever-users vs. non-users). The Chi-square test was used to find significant differences between these groups.
Results: Awareness was highest for contraceptive pills, followed by male condoms and intrauterine devices. Younger women (<25 years) reported significantly more limitations in discussing contraception with partner, parents, and physicians (p-values of 0.000, 0.006, and 0.042). Age also influenced decision-making, availability, and affordability (p-value of 0.001, 0.37, 0.022). Ever-users were significantly more comfortable discussing contraception and making decisions than non-users (p=0.001). Fear of contraceptive failure/side-effects was significantly higher among younger women and non-users(p=0.000).
Conclusion: Awareness and use are highest for contraceptive pills, male condoms, and intrauterine devices. Younger age (<25 years) and lack of prior contraceptive experience were key barriers affecting communication, access, and utilisation of modern contraceptives.

Key words: Contraception, women empowerment, Hail, Saudi Arabia.
